The Northern Neurological Alliance (NNA) and Headway in Newcastle upon Tyne Hartlepool and Stockton are two of many voluntary organisations and charities that provide support and assistance for people with brain injuries. Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) – is the term used to describe any kind of brain injury that has occurred since birth (either caused by an accident or fall, stroke, tumour or brain surgery). The NNA is an association of voluntary and private sector bodies that was formed I 2008. It is made up of patients and their carers and health care professionals that have an interest or who are affected by neurological conditions.
