Pakistan flood damage in Swat
September 3rd, 2010
Bad floods in Swat have really damaged the economy of this wonderful Pakistan mountain valley. The village of Madyan, in particular, and everything above it, have been serious cut off. There were two bridges in that village. One from a side creek that joined the main Swat River at the settlement, and the other one over the river itself. Both have been taken out. the smaller one has been completely washed away. The big red bridge has been shaken to it’s core and the buttresses will have to be inspected by engineers before it will be known if it can be used again. And the approach to the bridge on the other side of the river has been completely washed away. It is unbelievable damage.
