A common kitchen appliance is being recalled due to the threat of a fire.
The items in question are the Viking 24 inch Custom Panel, Designer, and Professional dishwashers. The date codes are between 052610 and 091510. Produced by the Greenwood, Mississippi-based Viking Range Corporation, the items were sold across the country between June 2010 and March of this year. During that time, they retailed from $1,425 to $2,000.
A faulty electrical component has the propensity to overheat, creating a fire hazard. 21 reports of such an occurrence have come in to the company, including five that entailed some form of damage to property. There have thankfully been no injuries.
Users of the around 2,000 dishwashers being recalled are advised to discontinue use. By contacting Viking, you can get them to dispatch someone to service the unit.

A man from Kalama was seriously injured on Saturday, after his motorcycle collided with a power pole in Chelatchie Prairie. The 64 year-old man was riding his 2008 Suzuki when he lost control, went off the roadway and hit a pole. The accident happened at around 3pm on State Highway 503, 5 miles north of Amboy.
He was taken to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center with hip and leg injuries, according to the Washington State Patrol. Police report that the accident was caused due to excessive speed and charges against the motorcyclist, are pending.
The motorcyclist is fortunate to be alive and lucky that no other vehicles were involved in this accident. His reckless driving could have resulted in the injury of an innocent motorist.

According to media agencies, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently rejected the petition that would prevent companies from using bisphenol-A (BPA) in food and beverage containers.
The FDA claims that the information provided in the petition by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) “was not sufficient to persuade FDA… to initiate rulemaking to revoke the food additive approvals for BPA.” The FDA said that it has plans to continue reviewing new data and reports of BPA.
The director of food policy initiatives at Consumers Union, the policy section of Consumer Reports, Jean Halloran stated, “We’re disappointed with the FDA’s decision because we think there’s ample scientific evidence about the health risks of BPA for the agency to take action now and ban it from food and drink packaging.” Consumers Union plans to continue putting pressure on the FDA to ban the chemical, as well as attempting to obtain a congressional backing to ban the chemical from the market completely.

Food trucks have become quite the rage throughout the country, but they’re not without certain safety issues.
In the early hours of the morning when people are exiting bars to head home for the night, the city of Santa Monica has had to contend with people crowding along sidewalks and disobeying pedestrian laws in order to get food from these mobile vendors. As a result, safety is compromised.
To combat this, Santa Monica has instituted a rule barring food trucks along Main Street between Ocean Park Boulevard and Marine Street between 1 am and 3 am on the weekends. That area is one of the busiest in the city, and officials have said that safety hazards have been curtailed thanks to the new ruling, although they do still occur.
